DaMoim puts a Korean spin on quesadillas and tacos
DaMoim, a Korean fusion restaurant and bar in Annandale offers a mix of Korean and American fare, but most people come for the tacos and quesadillas, and with good reason. They are delicious.
The buldahk quesadilla, a perfect combination of caramelized onions, spicy chicken, and cheddar and jack cheese in a soft tortilla ($8). is enough for light meal for $8. Also popular is the jaeyook quesadilla, with spicy pork.
Even better, order several items to share among your table. In fact, DaMoim, which means “gathering,” specializes in small plates. Options include mandoo (beef, pork, or vegetarian dumplings with soy sesame dipping sauce), calamari with sweet chili sauce, spring rolls, sliders with carmelized kimchi, and summer rolls (mango and shrimp with vermicelli and vegetables).

You can get three Korean barbeque tacos for $9 with galbi (beef short ribs), pork or chicken on a tortilla with sesame chili sauce, lettuce, scallions, and crushed sesame seeds.
Also on the menu: chili with stewed kimchi and melted cheese, fried chicken, kochi (skewers of chicken, galbi, or sweet and spicy shrimp), various varieties of bibimbop (meat, vegetables, spices, and a fried egg over rice in a hot stone bowl), and various noodle dishes. Entrees range from $8 to $24.
The atmosphere is dark and noisy. On a recent Friday night, most of the action was at the bar, and there was a large group in the separate party room.
Located at 2106 Columbia Pike (in the little shopping center with the School Box), DaMoim is open 11 a.m.-12 a.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and Sunday 11 a.m.-11 p.m. It’s closed Mondays.
Went here with my wife a couple fridays back, the pork quesadilla was outstanding. It was pretty quiet from 5-7pm, right up my alley. Bartender was friendly and the cocktails were exactly what I was looking for…strong. Great alternative to Silverado for happy hour on the way home, I highly recommend.
