District Taco coming to Bailey’s Crossroads

District Taco is coming to the Skyline Center in Bailey’s Crossroads. A new branch of the local Mexican chain is expected to open in May in the Skyline 7 building at 5275 Leesburg Pike, which had been renovated to accommodate three ground-floor restaurants. A Buffalo Wild Wings and Panera opened in that building last June.
The 3,000 square-foot restaurant will accommodate about 60 to 70 diners and will have outdoor seating, as well, says Osirus Hoil, who District Taco with partner Mark Wallace in 2009.
The menu will be the exactly the same as that of other District Tacos, featuring tacos and burritos with a Yucatan accent. That means more grilling and a heavier use of limes and peppers, says Hoil, who based the menu on his mother’s Yucatan recipes. The restaurants serve beer, but only allow three beers per customer, says Hoil, as his vision for District Taco is a place for a quick, tasty, meal, not for lingering over drinks.
Hoil describes the District Taco company as “full of energy and a lot of great ideas.”
The newest District Taco is in Rosslyn, joining other locations in Virginia (Dunn Loring, Lee Highway in Arlington, and S. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria) and D.C. (Dupont Circle, Eastern Market, and Metro Center). Another will open this spring in College Park, Md., and additional restaurants are under consideration for Crystal City and Rockville.
Hoil said he looked at the possibility of locating restaurants in Annandale and Springfield but couldn’t find suitable locations.
When Hoil immigrated to the United States from Mexico in 2000, he first settled in Denver. He met his wife there when he was a cook in a restaurant and she was a waitress. She encouraged him to go to school and learn English, and they eventually moved to Northern Virginia where she had grown up.
When he’s not busy running District Taco, Hoil is a committed cyclist, and his company fields a competitive cycling team.
He says starting the company was stressful, which led to overeating. He got into cycling as a way to lose weight, get healthier, overcome the stress, and “be a good role model for my company.” District Taco offers a lot of vegetarian and healthy choices, he says, and the cycling team emphasizes the benefits of combining fitness with good, fresh, healthy food.

This is great! And I didn't realize how many new eateries have come to Dunn Loring in the past year or so. Does it come under Mason district? If yes, it would help to get more coverage of the Dunn Loring improvements too.

its weird how Dunn Loring has more exciting development than anything in the Mason District. I am happy about this. just don't see why in Mason things happen in little bits and not an overall improvement like the rest of the county.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Mason is envied by Arlington now that it's getting the enviable new DMV at Barcroft Plaza. The bottom feeders are breaking down doors to get in the Dump.
Sounds like someone needs a taco
Dunn Loring has a metro station. The Annandale area is like a black hole in Northern VA when it comes to convenient public transportation as well as safe biking and pedestrian infrastructure.
Why so negative? There are good parts to Mason and not so good parts but it is not horrible.
Development generally is not random. There are definable reasons things happen the way they do. Generally places with easy access will fill out sooner than those that are a little more difficult to get to or those that have more options.
Having a tantrum every time something opens or closes achieves nothing. Whining about petty politics every time something is posted on this blog achieves nothing
development in Mason is 100% random. the comp plan has been ignored. remember the town center they wanted to build? they allowed a steak house to get approved for the parking lot of that center so thinking their town center idea is dead.
OK, I am happy there is a District Taco coming to Baileys but am I the only person who finds this location horrible?
This location is great if you work in that building I don't and that complex is dead to me. There is very little I would go into this complex for.
How is parking there? It looks like 20 pounds of sausage stuffed into a 10 pound casing.
I used to go to the theater the next strip mall down and stopped 20 years ago because of better options.

Any taqueria that doesn't at least offer tacos de lengua isn't worth getting excited about. Let alone cabeza, birria, tripas and other yummy options. I think Chipotle has more options than this place.
