Local residents of all ages are encouraged to help scientists document the biodiversity in parks and backyards by joining Virginia BioBlitz 2020

The program kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 26, with presentations on Zoom by the Virginia Academy of Science and its partners, including the Fairfax County Park Authority.

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.

To participate in the BioBlitz, register online and download the iNaturalist app. The app is used to record and your observations, including the location, time, photos, and sound, and submit it to the BioBlitz team.

There are brief instructional videos online with information on how to join the BioBlitz project and how to submit your observations.
