Dogs have their day at the Taste of Annandale
The adorable Pekingese duo, Chelsea and Aubin, were the top dogs at the Taste of Annandale Pet Contest on Sept. 21.
More than a dozen dogs – and one cute bunny – participated in the pet parade and costume contest organized by realtor Jamie DeSimone of Homes for All – Keller Williams Capital Properties. DeSimone, a Taste of Annandale sponsor, is also a self-described “cat wrangler.”
Annie Ray, the Grammy-winning music educator at Annandale High School, and Del. Vivian Watts did the judging.
Chelsea and Aubin, twin brothers who were dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, “spread joy wherever their tiny paws take them,” says Sally Min of Homes for All. “Chelsea, a wild ball of energy, is always up for an adventure, while Aubin prefers cozy snuggles and long naps.”
Their human companion, Courtney Vizcarra, was awarded the “best in show” prize, a one-month membership at Snouts & Stouts, an indoor dog park and bar.
The other winners received $25 Petco gift cards from DeSimone.
Keerti Goorah and Christine took home the “best human/pet duo” prize for their dogs Captain, a playful Aussie doodle, and Winnie, a lovable mystery mutt. Keerti dressed as Joy from the movie “Inside Out,” while Christine portrayed Sadness, and their furry companions were decked out in colorful “memory balls.”
Liz Glista dressed up Daisy, her 2-year-old pug, as a kissing booth, which netted them the prize in the “Funniest” category.
“With her sweet face and playful personality, she was ready to dish out endless smooches, spreading love and joy wherever she went,” Min says. “Who could resist a kiss from this lovable little pug?”
