Donations sought for pet food pantry

When families face food insecurity, so do their pets.
The Mason District Animal Welfare Advisory Alliance launched a pet food pantry to ensure vulnerable dogs and cats don’t go hungry.
The group, formed by Mason Supervisor Andres Jimenez, has set up collection bins for wet and dry pet food at three locations:
- the Playful Pack dog daycare center in Barcroft Plaza;
- Columbia Pike Animal Hospital, at 4205 Evergreen Lane; and
- the Mason Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike;

The alliance anticipates the pet food will be donated to the Culmore Family Resource Center at the Olde Salem Village Apartments in Bailey’s Crossroads.
The group is planning several other projects, but nothing has been finalized.
