Driver crashes into apartment
A driver trying to park crashed into a window at the Parliaments Apartments in Annandale, a reader reports.
The reader says his brother was getting off a school bus when he saw an older man, probably in his 80s, attempting to park at 5204 Conally St. Instead of braking, the man accidentally accelerated into the building.
The brothers called 911, which resulted in two fire trucks and three police cruisers on the scene.
It seems like back in the mid-1980s (when I was living out of state) that this happened all the time. Haven’t seen many of these stories since back then. I wonder if there is a cycle of population aging or something that has come back around.
Looks like there is very little room between the curb and the building. Seems like there should be a little more distance between dwellings and parking spaces.
It’s not closer than the driveway at a typical home. But of course it’s random people coming and going there, not just you. So it would be NICER if there was a LOT more distance. Just because of the noise.
