Early voting underway
Early voting at satellite polling stations, including the Mason Government Center and the Thomas Jefferson Library, begins on Oct. 17.
Poll watchers report high turnout levels for early voting at the Fairfax County Government Center, which began on Sept. 20.
Here are the major candidates on the ballot for Mason District voters:
- President – Kamala Harris and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz vs. Donald Trump and JD Vance
- U.S. Senate – incumbent Sen. Tim Kaine (D) vs. Hung Cao (R)
- U.S. House of Representatives – 8th District: incumbent Rep. Don Beyer (D) vs. Jerry Torres (R)
- U.S. House of Representatives – 11th District: incumbent Rep Gerry Connolly (D) vs. Mike Van Meter (R).
You do not need a reason to vote early. Apply for a vote-by-mail ballot here.
The voter registration deadline is Oct. 15. Same-day voter registration is available at the early voting locations between Oct. 16 and Nov. 2. However, those votes will be on a provisional ballot.

The Hummer precinct (#519) merged into the Woodburn Precinct (#536) this year. Voters from the former precinct will vote at Woodburn Elementary School.
There are two bond referenda on the ballot:
- A $180 million transportation bond to support Metro upgrades, new rail cars, new buses, and related improvements, and
- A $126 million public safety bond to develop a new police training center and renovate the Tysons, Oakton, and Fox Mill fire stations.
There’s also a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would expand tax benefits for the surviving spouses of soldiers who died in the line of duty.
