Fairfax County awards $16 million to 1,000+ businesses
Fairfax County has awarded more than $16 million to 1,016 businesses adversely affected by the Covid pandemic.
The Pivot program, administered by the Department of Economic Initiatives, targets businesses in the most hard-hit sectors of the county’s economy, including hotels, food service, retail, personal services, and arts and cultural institutions.
The grants are aimed at providing needed capital for ongoing operations to keep businesses afloat. The average grant recipient experienced a 40 percent loss of revenue between 2019 and 2020.
More than 78 percent of the businesses receiving grants are owned by women, minorities, or veterans. Among business owners, 69 percent are minorities, 44 percent are women, and 3 percent are veterans.

Pivot is the third business recovery program created by Fairfax County, following the Microloan program in April 2020 and the Fairfax RISE grant program in June 2020. The three programs distributed more than $70 million to help businesses weather the pandemic.

Bravo! This is the kind of local news that is unavailable anywhere else. Names and how tax money has been used. It is an unbeatabe combination. Please keep it up. It increases the vakue of your brand to readers who may eventually become paid subscribers, and especially to advertisers, who are getting their own money’s worth.
Why didn’t Duck Changs apply?
They received a different grant from the county. They had Pivot, Rise, and 2 others.
And they’re still asking for money from the public?
There’s an Anita’s Mexican in Annandale?
It’s officially in North Springfield but it’s on the edge of Annandale – in the Ravensworth Shopping Center.
