Next years stats are going to be brutal. If you were laid off, there’s likely no more high quality jobs in your field. County leadership needs to prioritize further slimming budgets for next FY and easing the burden on taxpayers
The population grew – by the people living here having kids – Can we get the stats on people leaving versus actually moving in? – Never mind we know the answer – Democrats have ruined Fairfax County- thank you voters….But here’s a great idea – dumb down the schools even more than Democrats already have; raise taxes for the Green New scams; give taxpayer money to people for not contributing to society; let criminals roam free….Ohh…and had the Democrats in congress and senate spent as much energy trying to negotiate with Trump over reductions as they spent defending people illegally in this country – maybe all those government jobs would not have been lost….
The craziest thing in this comment is that you think Trump ever was up for or there was a time to negotiate for trump to “reduce the reductions” that is straight out a lie, there was no possible time. Everything was done through illegal executive action something they had no control over and the courts did nearly zill to reverse. How you could be so ignorant to project responspobility so blatantly from the person doing it who’s nearly done several constitutional crises in the making is crazy to me. And their efforts to defend people illegally boils down to a few elected officials accompanying long serving American immigrants that were never given a pathway to citizenship despite their decade long ties here because we never ever priortized it. Federal dems never raised taxes, local counties may have but they dont spend anything on a green new deal though I wish they did everything in the tax code was trumps and it will be way worse under his new bill where everyone pays more not just under tariffs which will be worse but with Medicaid, SNAP and other benefit costs which besides being deeply regressive screws with the healthcare industry where so many hospitals relies on medicaid covered people. Say goodbye to lower copays>
Are you joking? D’s dumbing down the schools? Look at what Republicans are doing to education in this country under the guise of DEI. They do not want people educated so they can more easily manipulate them. They want to shrink public education. And all the cutting of funds/halting of funds for education by Trump/DOE is abhorrent.
The sad thing is people like you just regurgitate right wing talking points and really have no clue.
Good Ol Mark with his usual nonsense. Don’t know why he continues to live here if it’s such a hellhole.
Notice how the data doesn’t support his usual posts about folks fleeing FFX County so he moves the goal posts and claims to know the answer yet can’t provide it, I’m shocked!
I’m wondering why he hasn’t replied to the other story about Virginia dropping in the best states for business, his boy Youngkin doesn’t get any blame?
Fairfax County has become too big to be managed effectively by one little Board of Supervisors. It needs to be split up!
We badly need an Elected Executive for this poorly managed county
Well, I agree that the current County Executive sets a poor example of leadership. He is one of the most arrogant and self impressed that I have come across in all my years of dealing with this county. We can do better than this and our Board of Supervisors should get rid of him. But then, they are probably more worried about their own careers. I long for the days of Tony Griffen… respectful and honorable… not perfect but such a great example of what a County Exec should be. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him for just a moment in time.
Having travelled extensively through the country and the state, I am so lucky to live in Fairfax — and especially Mason District. Good people. Clean streets. Great restaurants. Incredible school system. Superb police and fire departments. Super health care. Beautiful parks. Culture. Close to DC, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Etc. Compared to even the western parts of Fairfax, and any place in the rust belt, you cannot get better than Mason District. It is even well governed with a council that’s not perfect, but pretty darn good.
