FCDOT is conducting a phasing study to develop recommendations on the projected order in which transportation improvements should be implemented to maintain a balance between the transportation improvements and the future redevelopment of Seven Corners.

FCDOT has identified the following improvements and is seeking input to determine the order in which they will be implemented:
- Create a four-way intersection at Leesburg Pike and Wilson Boulevard/Sleepy Hollow Road with a redesigned crossing.
- Build a new “ring road” that connects Route 7 (on the side with the bus transfer station) to the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Roosevelt Boulevard crossing over Route 50 with overpasses.
- Widen Route 50 to six lanes from the Arlington/Fairfax County line westward toward South Street.
- Build new ramps that connect Route 50 to the new “ring road” on each side of the new four-way intersection of Route 7/Wilson Boulevard/Sleepy Hollow Road.
- Construct a new road that connects the Willston Multicultural Center and a proposed Village Center (Willston shopping centers) to Route 7.
- Create better connections between the road network and future redevelopment.
The Seven Corners transportation improvements are aimed at enhancing bicycle, pedestrian, transit access, and connectivity while improving traffic flow.
Residents and commuters who walk, bike, drive, and take public transit in and around the Seven Corners area are encouraged to let FCDOT know how they get through the intersection and which improvements would be most helpful.

FCDOT expects to complete the Seven Corners phasing study in 2021.
The transportation improvements were recommended in the Seven Corners Comprehensive Plan Amendment, which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2015.
its amazing how we insist on more roads instead of a decent public transportation system.
Instead of another lane on route 50, just add a railroad and a light train that will connect as overground metro.
