Fairfax Water proposes rate increase
The Fairfax Water Board of Directors is having a public hearing tonight on its plans for a rate increase, as well as other changes in its 2016 annual budget.
Among the rate changes proposed:
- Service charges, billed quarterly, would rise from $9.80 to $10.10 for single-family residences.
- Commodity charges would rise from $2.55 to $2.68 per 1,000 gallons of use.
- Peak use charges would rise from $3.55 to $3.80.
The hearing will be at Fairfax Water’s main office at 8570 Executive Park Ave., Fairfax, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
We are so blessed to have plentiful and safe water available at the turn of an indoor fauce. Many in the U.S. are suffering from drought and water rationing, and so many around the world have no convenient access to safe drinking water.
True. It's easy for those of us who've never had to worry about the quality or the availability of "our" water to take it for granted. I'm guilty.
