Farmers markets open in early May

Farmers market season is almost upon us. The Fairfax County Park Authority operates 10 markets. Including two in Annandale.

The Annandale Farmers Market, at Mason District Park, opens May 4. The market will be open every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon.

The Wakefield Farmers Market, in Wakefield Park next to the Audrey Moore Rec Center, is open 2-6 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning May 3.

  1. Weekday markets are so frustrating for me! Couldn’t even really go before work being that they open at 8am. Do vendors get good foot traffic?

  2. Are these really “farmers markets”? Can you really grow a head of cauliflower in nominal weather conditions? Do we need a truth where it’s grown label?
