The Fairfax County Park Authority is proposing fee increases for some of its facilities.

The Park Authority Board is holding an annual public comment meeting on the fee changes Jan. 21, in room 106 of the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway,  Fairfax, at 7 p.m. The public can also submit comments no later than Feb. 5 online or via email to [email protected].

Here are some examples of the proposed fee increases:

  • The base fee for a 12-month leisure fitness pass for RECenters for single adults would rise from $943 to $957.
  • Lane rentals at RECenter pools would increase from $42.18 to $50.94 per hour for a 50-meter lane.
  • Full-day, prime picnic shelter rentals would increase from $125 to $150 at Mason District Park and from $85 to $100 at Round Tree Park.
  • Athletic field rentals would increase from $90 to $100 an hour for synthetic turf fields and from $40 to $45 an hour for grass fields.
A complete description of the fee increases and the rationale for why they are needed can be found here.
