Five Guys to open in old Grevey’s spot in Merrifield
A Five Guys restaurant is set to open in the old Grevey’s spot, in the Yorktown Shopping Center in Merrifield, in late July or early August. Grevey’s, the popular sports bar that had been in the Yorktown Shopping Center for 37 years, closed in December.
Former Washington Bullet Kevin Grevey opened a restaurant here in 1979. |
The new Five Guys will have the same menu as other locations in the rapidly growing chain – burgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes – but will have a new wood furniture and design package similar to the interior of the Five Guys that opened in Old Town, Alexandria, in February, said Lauren Lewis, senior communications manager at the company. It will seat 120 people inside and 24 on the outdoor patio.
This restaurant is actually a relocation of the Five Guys, now closed, that used to be across the street at 2960 Gallows Road
The new restaurant will be 5,646 square feet, which is more than double the size of the average Five Guys, Lewis says. There are Five Guys that are that big or bigger; the one in Old Town is 5,900 square feet.
Some staff positions have already been filled. The restaurant expects to hire additional staff for management and crew positions in July. Applications can be submitted online.
The first Five Guys, a carryout burger joint, was opened, in Arlington in 1986 by Jerry and Janie Murrell and their four sons. In 2003 they began offering franchise opportunities, and there are now more than 1,500 locations worldwide, with another 1,500 in development.
A Five Guys opened in March in the Willston Center in Seven Corners, and another one is projected to open at 3541 S. Jefferson St., Bailey’s Crossroads, in May 2018.
Their milkshake menu includes BACON as a "mix-in" for their milkshakes? :p
They store and reheat things, day old burgers simply do not taste good. I am not a fan of five guys.
You have no idea as to what you're talking about.
Everything is cooked as the orders come in, no provoking. Nothing is pre cooked, store and reheated.
That is not true. All of their food is cooked to order.
All of their food is cooked to order
Thanks to the owner(s) of the complex for bringing NOTHING
, I hope you FAIL. Bow to corporate $$$$ sending one of the most unique and established sports bars into nothingness for the sake of yet another fast food joint. Thanks for nothing. I'll never go to this five guys joint.
