Former bank building up for lease

7200 Columbia Pike

The former Bank of America building at 7220 Columbia Pike in Annandale is up for lease.

There are already a couple of potential clients, including a specialty grocer and a restaurant, says Thomas Hennerty, broker/CEO at Continuum Realty LLC.

Another bank or any type of retail would also work in that space.

Hennerty is seeking a single tenant for the 4,000 square foot space that had been occupied by the bank. That space would lease for $37 per square foot. There’s also a 75-square-foot second-floor office available for $18 a square foot. Other existing tenants would stay in the building.

  1. Trader Joe’s? True Foods Kitchen? A mini Target? Please not another thrift store or Asian restaurant. I love them, but we have enough. Maybe an entertainment venue for theater, live music & other performances or a recording studio, though they usually don’t have the funds. I feel we are already so blessed with a big variety of businesses in Annandale.

    1. bro lmaooo this is so true annandale has too many korean restaurants and alot of useless stores

  2. I feel Annandale is in dire need of a healthy fast casual option, like Cava/Sweetgreen. It’s in Mosaic, but I’d rather it be a 5 min drive than 12.

  3. Wow. My Mother used to go grocery shopping in that building in the ’60’s. It was a Safeway. She would leave me and my sister in the car while she did the shopping. It was a different world and a different Annandale in those days.

  4. Without a doubt – the best option would be the return of the Sunset Grille. This time, with good parking and visibility. C’mon Chamber of Commerce … you can do this!

  5. Tear it down and build market rate apartments with other than Korean restaurants as tenants.

    1. Wow was this article really too long for you to read? Says clearly this is a building with existing tenants and only a portion is up for lease.

    2. Also, what is so wrong with Korean restaurants? Just because you don’t go to them doesn’t mean they aren’t frequented.

      1. There’s nothing wrong with Korean restaurants. There is something right about variety, though. There are so many other possibilities, and it seems like we’re missing a lot of them.

I love a lot of cuisines, but I’d go outta my mind–in a bad way–if any single one of them were as heavily represented as Korean restaurants are. Market saturation isn’t good for anyone.

  6. What would its parking lot support?

I remember when it was Safeway, too. And before BoA, wasn’t it a different bank?

  7. Like many buildings in Annandale, this building needs to be totally reconstructed and renovated to modern standards and aesthetics. Annadale is woefully stuck in time, the 60’s and 70’s and need property owners and developers who will catapult the district into the mid 21st century! THis building needs radical renovations, not modest changes. I prefer a restaurant, unless it’s a really nice grocery store.

    1. Really? I understand your want for redevelopment in Annandale, which is something I can get behind if it entails a more walkable and urban focused center. However, I think it would be a shame to see Annandale shaped into just another soulless Merrifield Mosaic or Tyson’s “The Boro”. Annandale has a character to it that is quickly disappearing in other parts of Fairfax County. It still feels like a real place, rather than something that tested well in focus groups.

It would be a real shame, but there is a cost to everything and it seems this change is imminent.
