Former Wendy’s to be demolished

A fence has been installed around the former Wendy’s property at 7042 Little River Turnpike in Annandale in preparation for demolition.

According to the construction contractor, the building will be replaced by a retail center with more than one tenant. It’s owned by American Properties of Maryland LLC, the company that owns the Eastgate Shopping Center that shares the parking lot on John Marr Drive.

Wendy’s opened in 1987 and closed in 2017

  1. Does anyone know if this is still the eventual plan for this location?

    Kmart, Annandale, VA
The Annandale Va Kmart Site redevelopment will be a 1 million square foot mixed use project. The initial phase will be the redevelopment of the approximately 125,000 sq ft Kmart store into an Asian shopping center with multiple restaurants, spa, and grocer. The second phase will be 350 residential units with an additional 20,000 sq ft of retail. The third phase will be another multifamily development. The future developments will start in 2022.

  2. Does everything in Annandale have to be Korean? I resent the Korean signs. It seems they only want Korean customers because I don’t read the Korean signs. Did you know that Annandale is called “Little Seoul”? I have lived in this area for many tears and it definitely has become Korean.

    1. Frankly, I don’t think that Annandale is Korean enough and I am not joking.

Annandale is a unique place in Northern Virginia and is all the better for it. Take your xenophobia elsewhere.

    2. White male here, have lived here since 1990. Love the ethnic influence of our amazing town. There are plenty of moving companies that can get you out here. Sounds like a good plan for you

  3. I’ve lived in Annandale for 60 years, and find the mix of cultures interesting – and the food a lot more interesting (we only ate at the 3 Chefs). It takes a little more work to figure-out something different, but it adds interesting dimensions.

  4. Having lived in Korea for two years, I call this part of Annandale Itaewon West. Love Korea but we do need more variety.
Please, no more banks or drug stores or delta 8 establishments.

    1. Having lived in Africa for two years, I call this part of Annandale Abuja West. Love Africa but we do need more variety.
Please, no more barber shops, nail salons, or liquor stores.

  5. This world needs every person that it has. Why can’t we learn to accept others for who they are and what they bring to the table?!
