The Continentals was founded in 1972 as a German oom-pah
band by Mike Surratt, who’s still with the group. More recently, they’ve
expanded their repertoire to include a variety of polka and waltz styles along
with popular dance hits from the 1940s through today.
The show is part of the Spotlight by Starlight series at
Ossian Hall Park on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. all summer long, usually featuring
the music and dance of a particular country. There’s a schedule change for next
Saturday, Aug. 15: It will be Taiwanese Cultural Heritage Night instead of
Korean Cultural Heritage Night.
