Free tax help at Mason Government Center
The AARP Foundation is providing free tax preparation at the Mason Government Center.
The Tax-Aide program is available on a walk-in basis at 6507 Columbia Pike in Annandale or by appointment. Call 703-249-9961 to reserve a spot.
Operating hours are 1-8 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday. The office is closed on Presidents Day, Feb. 19.
Most tax returns will be completed on the same day. Pick up an intake packet and a 13614C form at the Mason Government Center or download them here.
Taxpayers need to bring Social Security cards, government-issued photo IDs, a filled-out 13514C form, last year’s federal and state tax returns, a check with the bank account number and routing number for direct deposit of refunds, income from tips, dependent care provider information, and other relevant forms. Tax-aide volunteers cannot prepare returns for nonresident aliens, active military personnel, and taxpayers who receive digital assets, rental income, or who report certain types of self-employment activity.
Thanks to all that help. We all need help because politicians want us to never really understand who pays what in taxes AND the politicians pick both hidden winners and losers through tax policies. If every elected official (federal, state, local) had to do their own takes in font of cameras with paper & a calculator then we would all get tax code simplification. Ah, to dream the impossible dream.
Although a family member does my taxes now , I used this free service for many years as well as my father also . It is such a great service . Saved me so much getting this free. The volunteers are very kind and helpful . I so much appreciated them spending their time to help people like me needing to save and not have to go to a paid tax preparer . They are very careful and get everything doubled checked before you leave and package it very nicely just as if you had gone to a paid one . Thank you !!!
Do they have tax help for 1099?
