Giant opens in Landmark Plaza

A new Giant grocery store opened in the Landmark Plaza
shopping center in Lincolnia just in time for Thanksgiving.
The store is in the space formerly occupied by Shoppers, which
closed in June.

At 56,000 square feet, the new Giant is much bigger than the
Giant on Columbia Pike in Annandale, says store manager Norman Dichard.
There are several specials this weekend. There are free food
samples and health screenings 2-7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 23, and noon-5 p.m. on
Saturday and Sunday. There are also giveaways of reusable bags to the first 250
customers daily and giveaways of Natures Promise products beginning at noon.
Among the features at the Landmark Plaza Giant: A Starbucks coffee shop;
PNC bank; pharmacy; flower shop; full-service deli, meat and seafood departments;
live lobsters; extensive beer and wine section; and comprehensive ethnic offerings.
The store has 160 employees, including 55 transferred from
the now-closed Giant on Edsall Road.

  1. I hope it adds to the customer experience of that horrible shopping center. Vehicle access and egress are terrible and most of the stores are junky. I am glad they have been trying to upgrade to better quality retail. The only time I ever go in there is to shop at Total Beverage, a good anchor.
