Giant to take over Shoppers at Landmark

The shelves at the Shoppers grocery store at the Plaza at Landmark are mostly empty, as the store prepares to close on June 18.

While many shelves are empty, there are still lots of things to buy at Shoppers.

The building has been taken over by Giant Food, which plans to renovate it and reopen this fall.

Meanwhile everything that’s left at Shoppers, except produce, milk, eggs, bread, beer, wine, and cigarettes, is 30 percent off.

In other retail news, neither the Annandale Kmart nor the Sears stores in Seven Corners nor Landmark Mall are on the list of stores Sears Holding plans to close in the near future. The company announced May 31 it will begin closing 72 unprofitable stores in early September.
