Guapo’s to open in Gate House Plaza
The former Chevys Fresh Mex restaurant spot in Gate House Plaza off Gallows Road in Merrifield will be taken over by Guapo’s, another Tex Mex restaurant.
Fairfax County approved a building permit Sept. 9 to renovate the interior space and patio.
The new restaurant could open in March or April 2023, reports a Guapo’s manager.
The building has been vacant since Chevys closed about three and a half years ago.
There are six Guapo’s restaurants – in Arlington, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Fair Lakes, Tenleytown, and Georgetown. The chain also includes Guapo’s Charcoal Chicken & Taqueria restaurants in Herndon, Manassas, and Woodbridge.

Never had a bad meal there and always excellent service (shirlington location).
GREAT restaurant never a bad meal at Arlington or Fair Lakes. can walk to the New Merrifield restaurant. Hope it opens soon.
