Hearing scheduled on Braddock Road improvements

The Virginia Department of Transportation is holding a public hearing Monday, June 2, on the design of multimodal improvements on Braddock Road between Ravensworth Road and Humphries Drive.
The hearing will be at Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Road in Burke, starting at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
The project includes:
- Improvements along a half mile on Ravensworth Road between Braddock Road and Heritage Drive;
- The eastbound and westbound Braddock Road ramps to southbound I-495;
- Intersection enhancements at Rolling Road, Wakefield Chapel Road/Danbury Forest Drive, and Burke Lake Road; and
- New and upgraded shared-use paths along both sides of Braddock Road.
The project aims to improve multimodal safety, mobility, and accessibility for all users.
Average traffic counts on Braddock Road within the project area range from 35,000 to 69,000 vehicles a day. Traffic on Ravensworth Road averages 15,000 vehicles a day.
Right-of-way acquisition for Phase 1 (between Southampton Drive and Ravensworth Road) will begin in 2026. Construction of Phase 1 will begin in late 2028.
A timeline for right-of-way acquisition and construction for Phase 2 (between Humphries Drive and Southampton Drive) hasn’t been determined.
This project has been under discussion since 2014.

And Rt 7 has been under consideration since before 2010 and somehow is still behind this project.
Great that these kind of improvements are going to be made, but ugh…
Yeah what is the status of the 7 corners circle? Absolute silence. No dirt being moved. No stakes being pounded. No buildings being torn down.
