Hello to Hapmudo

The Hapmudo martial arts studio, which has been located in various spots in Annandale for the past five years and most recently in the former Princess Nails site on Columbia Pike, is moving next door July 1 to the site vacated by Master’s Costume.

Hapmudo Master and founder Yong Sung Lee’s philosophy focuses on balancing character development with martial arts from a self-defense perspective. “If you have a competition and one person get one tooth knocked out and the other gets two teeth knocked out, you are both losers,” says Vicki Raeder, instructor and program director.

Hapmudo offers four classes in the evening and five on Saturdays; there are separate classes for children and adults. There’s also a summer camp for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, with lots of field trips, other activities, and swimming at the Broyhill Crest pool, as well as martial arts training. Hapmudo is planning an open house on July 11.
