Heron spotted in Annandale park

Thanks to a reader for getting a photo of this heron seen from the bridge on Holmes Run Trail near Rose Lane Park in Annandale. The two dogs with the photographer annoyed the heron and it flew away.

  1. One or two different heron made their home in Ben Brenman Park and along the Holmes Run Trail further east when I lived there. Nice to see they are making their way west! It's always a lovely encounter meeting such a large and beautiful bird.

  2. We have herons living near us at Lake Barcroft. They make a strange noise, that's why I know they are there.

  3. We have them in our fish pond in Sleepy Hollow and can't keep goldfish ever! We have people give us fish and they are gone within a week or two.
