Holmes Principal named an executive principal for FCPS Region 2

Holmes Middle School is in the Lincolnia area of Mason District.

Holmes Middle School Principal Margaret Barnes has been named an executive principal for Fairfax County Public Schools’ Region 2.

Region 2 includes Annandale, Falls Church, Justice, Marshall, and McLean high schools – and all the elementary and middle schools that feed into them – plus Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, the Kilmer Center, and the Davis Center.

The region serves 40,000 students in 45 schools.

Fabio Zuluaga, the assistant superintendent for Region 2 since 2014, retired earlier this month.

Executive principals support the region by providing principals with guidance and coaching. They also work closely with assistant principals by facilitating professional development throughout the school year.

Barnes has been the principal of Holmes Middle School since 2016 and has been with FCPS for 18 years.

She succeeds Region 2 Executive Principal Amielia Mitchell, who has retired.

  1. Congratulations to Ms Barnes!

Will be interesting to see how the superintendent’s reorganization shakes out for Mason District. How well will Region 2 or the new Region 6 align with our borders? How well will our schools and in turn our community be resourced? I guess we’ll learn soon Dr Reid’s true values.

  2. Congratulations Sis.ter-in-law. We Love You and Know Without A Doubt Or Contradiction That You’ll Continue To Soar.
