Honey Pig is key supporter of Taste of Annandale

The Honey Pig Korean BBQ Restaurant, on Columbia Pike in
Annandale, hosted about 40 journalists, sponsors, and local leaders May 28 for a
briefing on the Taste of Annandale, a community festival on June 13.
Rev. Clarence Brown, chair of the Taste of Annandale Steering Committee, Mason Supervisor Penny Gross, and Maj. Gun Lee of the Fairfax County Police Department gave a preview about “the Taste,” which will  showcase local restaurants and businesses, strengthen community engagement, and support local youths. The event will include a 5K Fun Run, live entertainment, a chili cook-off, and childrens corner. Proceeds will benefit the Annandale Youth Fund.

The Honey Pig, one of 21 restaurants participating in the
Taste of Annandale, specializes in meat grilled on your table and will have two booths at the event. Annandale had
the first Honey Pig, and the owner, June Kuark, has since opened restaurants in
Centreville, Ellicott City and Germantown, Md., and Taiwan. There’s also a
smaller Honey Pig [a piglet?] with karaoke on Markham Street in Annandale.

With the Taste of Annandale just two weeks away, the organizers
are in a last-minute rush to get the logistics worked out, sign up additional
sponsors and performers, put up yard signs and posters, and reach out to the public.
Since our last article on “the Taste” on May 21, several participants
have joined the festival, including the California Sliders and El Fuego food
trucks; Oriental Bowl; Annandale Shell; Amerikor Investment Group, the owner of
the Annandale Kmart property; the Annandale Youth Fund; Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services; Fairfax County Park Authority; and Mason Supervisor Penny Gross.
See the Taste of Annandale page for a complete list of
restaurants, non-food vendors, sponsors, and donors.
