Hoop it Up! Night brings Glasgow community together

The 18th annual Hoop it Up! Night at Glasgow Middle School April 15 was a big success, reports PTA President Tara Rethore. More than 100 students, faculty, staff members, and parent volunteers participated, while nearly 400 spectators filled the bleachers.

The Panther Groove livens things up.

Student teams at each grade level competed against the faculty/staff team in basketball games. The Panther Groove pep band – which is open to any student who plays an instrument – entertained the crowd with lively music, and the school’s chorus and dance team presented performances created for the event.

A team strategy session.

Hoop it Up! Night is co-sponsored by the Glasgow PTA and the Glasgow After-School Program. “It’s a fantastic event that draws the entire Glasgow community, with everyone encouraged to participate regardless of ability,” Rethore says. Student artists and journalists promoted Hoop it Up! while players practiced several times after school. “All in all it was a wild, crazy fun event and a great night for Glasgow.”
