Realtor reports on May home sales

Fifty-nine homes were sold in Annandale during the month of May, including 18 condominiums or co-ops, reports Vivianne Couts of Coldwell Banker. That compares to just 47 homes sold in March 2010.

But May real estate sales are about 30 percent below 2009 levels; 89 homes were sold in Annandale in May 2009. Average sales prices are up though: The average sales price was about $353,600 last month, compared to $349,200  in May 2009. And somewhere in Annandale, a house sold in the $1 million to $2.5 million range last month.

Homes are also selling a lot faster this year: Homes sold in May 2010 were on the market an average of 30 days, compared to 81 days a year ago. There were 80 new new listings last month.
