In-person absentee voting for the Nov. 5 election begins this Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Mason Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale.
In-person absentee voting will be available every Saturday through Nov. 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Mason Government Center. Beginning Oct. 15, in-person absentee voting will take place at that location Monday through Friday, 3:30-7 p.m. People can also vote absentee in-person at the Fairfax County Government Center beginning Sept. 24.
You need a valid reason to be able to vote absentee. Examples of valid reasons for not being able to vote on Election Day include working and commuting during the hours the polls are open, attending college out of town, being disabled or ill or taking care of someone disabled or ill, serving overseas in the armed forces, or serving time for a misdemeanor.
If you want to vote absentee, you have to send an absentee ballot application to the Fairfax County Office of Elections. Be sure to fill in all of the requested information, including your reason for voting absentee, the address where it should be sent, your home address, and the last four digits of your Social Security number—and sign it.
You can pick up an absentee ballot application form at Fairfax County libraries and government offices, including the Mason Government Center, or download the form from the Office of Elections website.
Submit the absentee ballot application via email to [email protected], fax it to 703-324-3725, or mail it to the Office of Elections, Box 10161, Fairfax, VA 22038.

Here are some key voting deadlines for the Nov. 5 election:
Deadline to register to vote—Oct. 15, 5 p.m.
Last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail, fax, or email—Oct. 29, 5 p.m.
Last day to vote absentee in-person—Nov. 2, 5 p.m.
Deadline for submitting absentee ballots—They must be received by the Office of Elections by Nov. 5, 7 p.m.

I stopped at the Mason Govt Center this afternoon to vote absentee and was told that absentee voting is only at the Fairfax Govt Center until October 15th except for Saturdays. Just so you know, it is NOT available at Mason District on October 1st as listed above.
