In-person absentee voting underway for primaries

Absentee voting for the June 13 Democratic and Republican primary elections
is already under way.
In-person absentee voting began April 28 at the Fairfax County Government Center, Conference
Rooms 2/3, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. The polls are open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on Thursdays; and on
Saturdays, June 3 and 10, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 10 is the last day for in-person
absentee voting.

In-person absentee voting at satellite locations, including the Mason
Government Center, will only be available on one day: Saturday, June 10, 9
a.m.-5 p.m.

Candidates for governor on the Democratic ballot are Ralph Northam, the
current lieutenant governor, and Tom Perriello, a one-time member of the U.S.
Congress. Democrats running in the primary for lieutenant governor are Justin Fairfax, Gene Rossi, and Susan Platt.
In the Republican primary, three candidates are running for governor: Ed
Gillespie, Corey Stewart, and Frank Wagner. Three lieutenant governor
candidates are also on the Republican ballot: Bryce Reeves, Glenn Davis Jr.,
and Jill Vogel.
Voters can choose to vote in either party’s primary but not both. For information about voting absentee by mail or fax, visit the section
on absentee voting on the Office of Elections website.

Voters need to bring a valid photo ID. If you need a photo ID, you can get one for free at the Fairfax County Office of Elections and other locations.

Key dates for voting in the primary:
May 22 – Voter registration deadline.
June 6 – The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail, 5 p.m.
June 10 – Final day for in-person absentee voting.
June 13 – Primary Election Day; deadline to return absentee ballots, 7 p.m.
