Indoor classes to resume at Fairfax County park facilities this fall
The horticulture center at Green Spring Gardens hosts workshops and lectures on gardening topics. |
In-person, indoor classes and other programs will resume this fall at Fairfax County parks and historic sites. That includes Green Spring Gardens, Hidden Oaks Nature Center, and the Audrey Moore RECenter in the Annandale/Mason District area.
Classes had been moved to a virtual format during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The in-person programs will be conducted according to health department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention safety guidelines. Class sizes have been reduced to allow for social distancing, and there will be more time between classes for cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces, says Park Authority Program Branch Manager John Berlin.
Everyone over age 2 will be required to wear a face covering at all times except when actively exercising. Temperature checks will be required for everyone who enters a park facility.
Registration for park programs is available online through Parktakes. Printed copies of Parktakes have been mailed to subscribers and are available at public libraries and staffed Park Authority facilities.
