Inova opens clinic for sick children

The new Inova clinic for sick children is located on the ground floor of this building.

Inova celebrated the grand opening of a clinic for sick children Jan. 18 in Seven Corners.

The Inova Cares Pediatric Sick Clinic, the first of its kind in the Inova system, provides care for children who have such common symptoms as fevers, ear infections, and sore throats so they can return to daycare or school as soon as possible.

The clinic is co-located with the Falls Church Inova Cares Clinic for Children (ICCC) in the “Lookout at 6400” building at 6400 Arlington Blvd.

The new clinic treats existing ICCC patients who are sick. “Parents may bring their children directly to this pediatric sick clinic without an appointment to receive immediate care,” says Karen Berube, chief of community health and health equity at Inova. That means they can avoid a trip to an emergency department or urgent care center.

The new clinic has six examination rooms staffed by multiple physicians with the ability to see up to 50 patients a day.

It’s open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

The long-term plan for the clinic will be to expand services to other children who are uninsured or underinsured so all kids have access to the care they need. Funding for the Inova Cares Pediatric Sick Clinic was made possible in part thanks to a gift from the Shrader family.
