Inova seeks plasma from people who recovered from COVID-19 for research study

If you’ve had COVID-19 and recovered, Inova Health System wants to study your blood.
Actually, what Inova wants is your plasma, the colorless fluid part of blood, which contains immunoglobulins (immune protection), and could be used by researchers working on treatments for patients currently sick with COVID-19we.
To qualify for plasma donation, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Age 18 or older
- Not pregnant
- Documentation of a positive test result for COVID-19
- Recovered and symptom-free for 14 days
- Must meet all standard criteria for blood donation
If you qualify, you will be scheduled for a screening visit at the Clinical Trial Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital for an interview, exam, and repeat COVID-19 PCR test to make sure you have fully cleared the infection.
If you pass the screening, a plasma donation will be be scheduled. Plasma donation takes about two hours and will be performed by Inova Blood Donor Services at a location of your choice: the Woodburn Donor Center, 3289 Woodburn Road in Annandale, or at the donor centers in Centreville or Sterling.
