Inova Health plans to start work next month on a sewer replacement project serving the Inova Center for Personalized Health.

Members of affected communities, including Fairview Park, Holmes Run West, and Holmes Run Acres, are invited to an informational meeting on the project on July 23, 7 p.m., at the Inova Conference Center, 8100 Innovation Park Drive.

The Inova Center for Personalized Health is currently served by an at-capacity sewer line that runs through an existing easement located between the commercial properties in Fairview Park to the north and the residential neighborhoods to the south and east.

A larger sewer line is being installed “to support continued improvements at the Inova campus, home to the Inova Schar Cancer Center and other healthcare services,” Inova states in a flyer to residents.

While the project will not directly impact residential properties or sewer service, “nearby residents will be in close proximity to the work area,” Inova warns. “All necessary environmental precautions and protections will be taken in accordance with Fairfax County standards.”

“It will be necessary to remove selected trees in the easement to allow for construction,” Inova states. “Upon completion, Inova will replant with new trees and vegetation per Fairfax County standards and the approved construction documents.”

  1. The invasive vines will swallow up the new plantings and newly exposed trees on both sides of the cleared alley in a hot minute unless concerted and sustained efforts over the long term by Inova and the County are made to keep them at bay.
