Join a community art project

As part of the Art in Daily Spaces project, Community Art for Everyone (CAFE) invites the public to join a collaborative public art project.

“You don’t need to be a professional artist to join, and you don’t need prior exhibition experience,” CAFE says. “If you’re curious, creative, and open to collaboration, you are welcome.”

Community members interested in participating are invited to attend four community art workshops at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 6531 Columbia Pike, Annandale, on March 28 (1-3 p.m.), March 29 (1-3 p.m.), March 30 (7-9 p.m.), and March 31 (7-9 p.m.). Register for the workshop series here.

The theme of the community art project is “Journey of Belonging,” which explores the concepts of movement, home, identity, roots, and connection. “Together, we will share stories, create art, and transform everyday space into a meaningful public installation,” CAFE states.

This project is for you, CAFE says, if

• You have ever wondered, “Can I be part of an art exhibition?”
• You want to turn personal or community stories into art.
• You enjoy creating with people, not just for yourself. 

This will be the third year of Art in Daily Spaces, a project organized by CAFE with support from ArtsFairfax aimed at bringing art into everyday life. Beginning in May, artworks will be displayed in local businesses, churches, and public facilities throughout Annandale.

This year, the collaborative art project created by community members will be part of the Art in Daily Spaces exhibit.
