KORUS Festival to feature a raffle for a brand-new Hyundai Elantra

One lucky winner at the KORUS Festival will come away with a brand-new Hyundai Elantra courtesy of Safford Brown Hyundai.

The raffle is a key feature of the festival on Oct. 13-15 at the K Market parking lot, 4239 John Marr Drive in Annandale.

The event highlights Korean-American culture and features, K-Pop, a talent contest, dance, international food, games, activities, local businesses and organizations, elected leaders and political candidates, and much more.

The KORUS Festival will be held 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13; 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on the 14th, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on the 15th.

The KORUS Festival is being organized by the Annandale-based Korean American Association of Greater Washington (KAAGW), a nonprofit that represents the interests of some 250,000 Korean-Americans in the D.C. region.

Raffle tickets for the 2023 SEL Hyundai Elantra sedan are $5 each. KAAGW is only printing 8,000 tickets, so the odds of winning are pretty good. There is no limit on the number of tickets an individual can buy. Ticket-buyers must be over 18 years old.

The drawing will be held on Sunday, Oct. 15, at about 6 p.m. Ticket-holders do not have to be present to win. The winner is responsible for the sales tax, tag, license, and transport.

To ensure the three-day festival’s success, KAAGW is reaching out to individuals and businesses to sign on as sponsors.

There are several levels of sponsorships: Title Sponsor – $50,000; Diamond – $30,000; Platinum – $10,000; Gold – $5,000; and Silver – $3,000.

Restaurants and other businesses are encouraged to reserve a 10×10-foot booth. The cost is $2,000 for a food-related business and $1,500 for others.

Sponsorship and vendor forms are available on the KORUS website.

This will be the 20th KORUS Festival and the first in Annandale since 2019.

“We view it as a chance to bring the Korean-American community and local residents together to celebrate the strong bonds between the Republic of Korea and the United States,” says Andrew Park, chairman of the board of KAAGW. That’s how KORUS got its name – Korea and the U.S.

“This year’s theme is the celebration of the 70th armistice anniversary in Korea,” Park says. “We want to remember and honor the fallen soldiers of the 1950-53 conflict, which killed and injured millions.”

The Korus Festival is not just about Korean culture. All residents of Annandale and Northern Virginia are invited to come and enjoy the festivities.
