Laundromat to open in Annandale
A laundromat is going into the space formerly occupied by Hair Cuttery at 7404 Little River Turnpike in Annandale. Hair Cuttery closed in 2020.
The laundromat is expected to open in July. The owner also operates laundromats in Herndon; Columbia, Md.; and Baltimore.
Seems like we have a lot of laundromats all of a sudden—why? We don’t seem to have so much more low income multi housing, and even those have laundry rooms. Is it that more people are crowding into existing homes? Laundry machines in apartments are not maintained or the areas aren’t safe? People just wait forever to do their laundry and need to use multiple machines at once? Seems like all the new construction is expensive homes where people would have their own washers and dryers.
Hey Pam- I use a laundromat and I live in a single family house. Our washer and dryer. And let me tell you, there are not enough laundromats. They are always full. I was happy to see this one open as another option.
The washing machines in my building are tiny. For quilts and comforters the 24 laundry is the only way to go.
