Learn how to cut energy bills with solar

Learn how to get discounted rates for solar energy before the 30 percent federal tax credits for solar expire at the end of the year.

Mason District Supervisor Andres Jimenez is hosting a Solar 101 workshop Saturday, July 26, 1 p.m., at the Mason Government Center.

Representatives of Solarize Virginia and Switch Together will be there to talk about their group purchasing programs. Both organizations offer homeowners discounted rates for solar, free assessments, access to trusted installers, and ongoing support throughout the process.

Solarize Virginia extended its sign-up deadline to Aug. 15. Switch Together will accept sign-ups through Sept. 3.

Registration is free for both programs, and there is no obligation to proceed with an installation.
