Learn how to make aging fun – and find new creative ways to spend your time after retirement – at the Positive Aging and Wellness Fair Sunday, Oct. 22.
The event, 8:45-4 p.m., features a variety of workshops on such topics as brain health, finding an “encore career,” meditation, travel tips, music, art, tai chi, yoga, Medicaid planning, and “seniors having sex.”
The keynote speaker is prize-winning journalist Bob Levey, who has covered the Washington scene since the Johnson Administration in the daily column “Bob Levey’s Washington” in the Washington Post.
For the first time, this event will be held at the Inova Center for Personalized Health Conference Center, 3225 Gallows Road. That’s the former ExxonMobil facility, which Inova Health Systems purchased in 2015 and is developing into a research and treatment center.
The Positive Aging Fair, powered by the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia and Celebrate Fairfax Inc., is designed for the 55-plus population,
“It’s a very fun, active kind of day,” says Carla Rosenfeld of the JCCNV. “It’s not focused on growing old. It’s about how to take advantage of this time in your life to do all sorts of beneficial, fun things.”
The objective is to “educate and inspire adults to achieve a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle as they age.”
The registration cost is $20, including lunch, before Oct. 16. After that date, the fee is $20 but doesn’t include lunch. Register online.
