Covering Annandale, Bailey's Crossroads, Lincolnia, and Seven Corners in Fairfax County, Virginia

Summer concert series starts in June

A summer concert at Mason District Park.
The lineup has been set for the free Spotlight by Starlight concerts at Mason
District Park and Ossian Hall Park.
The shows are part of the summer entertainment series in parks
throughout Fairfax County.
The concerts in the amphitheater
in Mason District Park are on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 7 p.m.

The first show, on June 18, features the Concert Band. Performances all summer long range from rock to jazz, folk to blues, plus funk, klezmer, pop, Americana, and
more. The Capital Steps, a political satire musical group that usually draws a
big crowd, will appear July 16.

The Spotlight series also includes cultural heritage nights on Saturdays at Ossian Hall
Park in Annandale, 7:30-8:30 p.m., in June, July, and August. The first one showcases music and dance from China on June 24.
Other cultures featured this year include Ireland, Peru,
Bavaria, Bolivia, Vietnam, and Taiwan. There will also be performances at
Ossian Park by the U.S. Army Blues and Alexandria Kleztet.
There are children’s shows at Mason District Park on Saturdays,
10-11 a.m., beginning with songs by Mr. Jon & Friends on June 17.
Mason District Park has benches, but it’s lawn seating at Ossian
Hall Park, so you’ll need to bring a blanket or chair.
Shows are canceled when it rains. If it looks like it could rain, call 703-324-SHOW (7469) an hour before the
show to see if it’s still happening.

The Summer Entertainment series is presented by the Fairfax
County Park Authority, in partnership with the Board of Supervisors and support
from the
Fairfax County Park Foundation and contributions from local businesses
and corporations.
