Lipsman wins GOP primary for 8th District
Delegates to Virginia’s 8th District Republican Committee selected Karina Lipsman to run for Congress in the 8th Congressional District.
Lipsman received 61.5 percent of the vote at a firehouse primary May 21 using ranked-choice voting at the Waterford Event Center in Springfield.
She beat four other candidates: Kezia Tunnell got 19 percent of the vote, Jeff Jordan got 16 percent, Heerak Kim got 2 percent, and Monica Carpio got 1 percent.
Because Lipsman got more than 50 percent in the first round, there was no need for a second round.
As a child, Lipsman immigrated from Ukraine when it was still part of the Soviet Union. Her career has been mostly in national defense, including 11 years at Northrop Grumman and most recently at Peraton.
On Election Day, Nov. 8, Lipsman will face off against the winner of the June 21 Democratic Primary. Newcomer Victoria Virasingh is challenging Rep. Don Beyer, who’s been in Congress since 2015. Early voting has already started.
Teddy Fikre is running as an independent on Nov. 8.

Hey Ho – Beyer’s Got to Go!
Dear Karina. I am heartened by your winning the primary for Congress. Most of the politicians are just that. Politicians. They do not care about the welfare of the citizens they represent, which includes ordinary people who are not for the foolish and destructive politics of the single party system, the entrenched and corrupt RINO-Dem machine running the country for only the benefit of the billionaire and super billionaire oligarchs. These oligarchs scam many elections. Thank you for deciding to run for Congress. We are all tired of the nasty men and women in Congress, and in many top agency positions, the Presidential administrations. We are also tired of the radicals trying to destroy the family unit, manipulation children, and teach toxic material having nothing to do with the basics of education, namely reading, writing and math in our public schools.
