Man arrested for having narcotics shipped to a UPS store

A suspect has been arrested for receiving packages of narcotics from the UPS Store in the Bradlick Shopping Center in Annandale, the news blog ALXnow reports.
Alexandria police arrested the man, age 33, on multiple narcotics possession charges in December 2024, after a search of his apartment in Alexandria’s West End. During the search of his apartment, police seized various controlled substances, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and pills, as well as packaging material, U.S. currency, and U.S. Postal Service boxes.
He was released on bond and was then re-arrested on June 11, after an employee at the UPS Store reported to police that he was receiving packages of drugs, according to a search warrant affidavit. The suspect “admitted using the mail to receive narcotics,” police said in the affidavit, ALXnow reports.
On May 29, a postal inspector reported receiving a suspicious USPS Priority small flat-rate box addressed to the suspect at the UPS store. On June 2, an employee at the store called the police to report that the suspect had been identified.
Inside the box, police found 0.7 pounds of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. The package was sent from California, but the sender has not been located.
By this point, the suspect had relocated from Alexandria to a new apartment in Fairfax County less than two miles from the UPS store, according to ALXnow.
The suspect faces multiple felony charges, including displaying a firearm while selling Schedule I/II drugs, possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I/II and IV drugs, and distributing more than 10 grams of methamphetamine.
