Man assaulted in Annandale

The latest crime reports from the Fairfax County Police Department include three incidents in the Annandale/Mason District area.

Three men assaulted a 45-year-old man when he was taking out his trash at about 11:23 on Feb. 12 on the 7700 block of Suraci Court in Annandale. The suspects demanded the victim’s phone, pushed him to the ground, assaulted him repeatedly, then ran off.

They were described as Hispanic, around 14 to 17 years old, and were wearing dark clothing. The victim did not require medical attention.

There was an armed robbery Feb. 10 on the 6000 block of Vista Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads at around 1 a.m. A 46-year-old man was walking home from work when a man approached him, displayed a knife, and demanded cash and his phone.

The victim complied, and the suspect ran off. He was described as Hispanic, in his mid-30s, wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt with white stripes.

On Feb. 2, the property manager of the Avant Apartments in the 7900 block of Patriot Drive in Annandale called the police when he discovered a man sleeping inside a vacant unit. Officers recognized the suspect, Jesus Paniagua-Iraheta, 25, of no fixed address, arrested him, and took him to the Adult Detention Center. He was charged with trespassing and destruction of property.
