Man buys $2.7 million lottery ticket in Annandale

Erik Lee

A man from Nunica, Mich., bought a lottery ticket worth $2,777,777 at the Express 1 Food Mart at 4713 Backlick Road in Annandale.

That’s the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Lucky 7s Cash Blowout scratch-off game.

“I just got real lucky,” says Erik Lee, who was in Annandale on a work trip when he bought the winning ticket. “I didn’t realize it at first. I went from confusion to realization!”

He took the one-time cash option of $1,671,346 before taxes rather than taking the $2,777,777 prize in annual payments over 30 years.

The odds of winning the top prize in that game were 1 in 979,200. The odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.11.
