Man dies in moped accident in Lincolnia

A man is dead following a moped crash at 2:20 a.m. Oct. 5 at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Lincolnia Road in Lincolnia, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
Erwin Rodriguez, 32, of Annandale, was thrown from the 2011 TaoTao moped he was driving and pronounced dead on the scene. A preliminary investigation determined the moped was traveling east on Columbia Pike when it left the roadway and crashed.
Rodriguez was wearing a helmet. Detectives from the FCPD Crash Reconstruction Unit have not yet determined whether speed or alcohol were factors.

Very sad. While this appears to be his fault, that intersection is confusing and dangerous.
My understanding was that it was a hit and run! Someone hit him!

No, it was single vehicle accident. No other vehicles were involved. A simple Google search will confirm this. Still an unfortunate accident nonetheless.
