Man fatally shot at Fairview Park hotel
A man was fatally shot in a hotel room in Merrifield in the early hours of Nov. 19, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
Someone called the police at about 1:30 a.m. to report gunshots at the Marriott on 3111 Fairview Park Drive. Police found Anthony Ashe Jr., 44, of Maryland, near the elevators with gunshot wounds in the upper body. He was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The police obtained a warrant for Hiep Van Vo, 43, of Annandale, in connection with the shooting. Vo is wanted for second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Detectives believe Ashe and Vo were known to one another. Ashe entered the room Vo was occupying with four others. Vo shot Ashe; no one else was injured.
Ashe was able to exit the hotel room and was carried by friends, who heard the gunshots, to the elevator, the FCPD states. Vo fled from the hotel. Evidence of narcotics was discovered inside the hotel room. Detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Vo should call the police non-emergency number, 703-691-2131, or submit a tip to Crime Solvers.
Update: Hiep Van Vo was arrested by the FCPD Fugitive Track and Apprehension Division, the U.S. Marshal Service, and the Montgomery County Police Department on Nov. 19 outside a Giant in Gaithersburg. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Fairfax County.
CJ was loved by everyone, this is obviously premeditated and should be 1st degree. I hope justice will be served in this violent act. Several shots to the upper body is ment to do one thing only and that’s to unalive. Justice would be the maximum, he took away from so many people when he took CJ from us. My heart aches deeply for my friend and feel for his wife, family and friends. We love him, our lives will never be the same.
Condolences to his family. However, CJ was indicted on several federal felonies for trafficking hard drugs in the early 2000s. 10 second google search.
This is what happens when police use known drug dealers as confidential informants. Look into all cases where Fairfax County has used confidential informants to entrap suspected criminals and in all of those cases the CIs have themselves been criminals with felony records. How can we trust a system that is as corrupt as this?
