Man shot with own gun by intruder

Fairfax County Police are investigating a shooting in the 3500 block of S. George Mason Drive in Mason District Oct. 16, in which intruder wrestled a firearm from the victim and shot him.

Police responded to a report of a man shouting and knocking on doors in the hallway of an apartment complex at around 1:28 a.m., the FCPD states.

They found a 27-year-old man with an apparent injury to the mid-body and transported him to the George Washington University Hospital. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

 An initial investigation determined the victim was home asleep. He woke up to find another man inside his apartment. The victim, who had a gun, confronted the suspect with it. A struggle took place between the two men, during which time the suspect appears to have gained control of the weapon and during the struggle, struck the victim twice.

The suspect was described as white, about 6 feet tall, with blue eyes, and a prominent nose. He was wearing dark-colored clothing.
