Mason District police station asks public to donate items for those in need

The Mason District Police Station is
participating in three separate campaigns to collect items for members of the
community who need a little extra help during the holidays. Here’s how you can
contribute:
- There’s a box at the police station (6507 Columbia Pike) for the
Communities of Trust’s Help from the Heart campaign, which is collecting new personal
care items to be distributed by local food pantries.
These items are most in need: toothpaste, tooth
brushes, deodorant, lotions, diapers, baby wipes, soap, shampoo, conditioner,
feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence diapers, laundry and dish
detergent, household cleaners, toilet paper, and paper towels. For information,
contact 703-646-8994; [email protected].
- The Mason District’s “Gary Claus” campaign is
collecting toys – for newborns through teenagers – at the police station. The
deadline for donations is Dec. 12. Call the station for information,
702-256-8035.
- Mason District police officers are also collecting
new pajamas and socks to be distributed to families in the Mason District.
There will be a collection box in the police station lobby through Dec. 19.
Contact: 703-256-8035.
According to the Communities of Trust organization, there has been a surge in need and it keeps growing.
