A medical office building is under construction at 8120
Gatehouse Road, Merrifield, on the site of a long-closed Sir Walter Raleigh Inn
restaurant. (The one-time local restaurant chain is down to just one location,

The 15,000-square foot building, scheduled to be completed
this summer, will be the new home of the Fairfax Hearing Center, which is
moving from its current location at 3299 Woodburn Road, Annandale.
There is
space for additional medical-related tenants. Rent is $44 per square foot,
reports James Legat, senior vice president of the Avison Young real estate
company. It’s a “by-right” project, so there was no need for a
rezoning review or approval by the Board of Supervisors.
