More early voting locations open today for Democratic Primary

In-person early voting for the June 8 Democratic Primary expands to 10 additional locations today, including the Mason Government Center and Thomas Jefferson Library.
Early voting is available at both of those locations 2-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 and June 5.
All early voting locations will be closed on Memorial Day, May 31.
Voters will select a candidate for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. The general election is Nov. 2.
Voters in the 38th House of Delegates District, which includes much of Mason District, will have the choice of re-electing Del. Kaye Kory or challenger Holly Hazard.

The ballot for the 49th District, which also covers parts of Mason District, includes Del. Alfonso Lopez and challenger Karishma Mehta.
Democratic Primary voters will select among these candidates for governor:
- Terry McAuliffe – Former governor of Virginia, 2014-19.
- Jennifer McClellan – Represents the Richmond area in the Virginia Senate.
- Jennifer Carroll Foy – Represents Prince William County in the House of Delegates.
- Lee Carter – A self-proclaimed socialist who represents the Manassas area in the House of Delegates.
- Justin Fairfax – The current lieutenant governor.
The winner will face Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin and independent candidate Princess Blanding in the general election. Instead of a primary, the state’s Republican party selected candidates at a series of conventions in various locations on May 10.

The Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor are:
- Hala Ayala – Represents Prince William County in the House of Delegates.
- Sam Rasoul – Represents Roanoke in the House of Delegates.
- Andria McClellan – Member of the Norfolk City Council.
- Sean Perryman – President of the Fairfax County NAACP.
- Mark Levine – Represents Alexandria in the House of Delegates.
- Xavier Warren – An agent for NFL football players and lobbyist for nonprofits.
Elizabeth Guzman appears on the ballot, too. She dropped out of the race after the ballots were printed.
The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor is Winsome Sears, a former member of the House of Delegates from Newport News.
The attorney general candidates in the Democratic primary are:
- Jerrauld “Jay” Jones – Represents Norfolk in the House of Delegates.
- Mark Herring – The current attorney general.
Two voting precincts have been temporarily relocated for the primary:
- The polling place for the 520 Skyline Precinct was moved from Three Skyline Place at 5201 Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads to the Bailey’s Community Center at 5902 Summers Lane.
- The polling place for the 514 Crossroads Precinct at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads has been relocated to Glen Forest Elementary School at 5829 Glen Forest Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads.
For those planning to vote before June 8, you don’t need a reason to vote early or apply in advance, but you do need to bring an acceptable ID.
Any registered voter can vote at any early voting site. If you received a vote-by-mail ballot and want to vote in person, you must bring the ballot to an early voting site. You can also drop off mail ballots at any early voting site during hours of operation.
Curbside voting will be available for people 65 and older and for people with a physical disability.
